About friends…

I have found that to be unfortunately very true about friends. Sometimes, people who are very close to you don’t want you to thrive. Why is that? Well, there are 2 reasons that stand out.

  • They don’t want to see you accomplish something in which they failed. Jealousy is one of the saddest plagues in our societies. Social media have worsened the phenomenon by allowing us to display “fake” goals and lives. It is also in human nature to think that grass is greener elsewhere. People don’t even want to admit that your success is often perceived as a reflection of their own failure. The thing is, success only comes to the people who failed multiple times and always got back up.
  • They don’t want you to show them that there is always another way. People are scared to take risks and want to believe that not acting was the best solution. So when you show them that the impossible is indeed possible, they can’t help but be mad at themselves for not having tried harder. So, don’t take their criticism too personally.

As a conclusion, you should not desire someone else’s life but instead aspire to build your own. Let negativity aside. People will talk anyway. The more you grow, the more you will have to surround yourself with good and optimistic people. That’s the way life goes. You can still love those friends and family members, but choose how and when to share your ambition with them.
